With Dr. Molyn Leszcz

You won’t want to miss this Presentation! Join us for an illuminating, experiential workshop to examine the factors that contribute to therapist effectiveness in group therapy. Dr. Leszcz will address what unfolds at the level of the therapeutic relationship in group therapy that can improve or impede clinical effectiveness.

Areas that will be addressed include: Understanding the central role of group cohesion, empathy and attunement, therapeutic focus, activation of the here and now, the value of interpersonal approaches as an integrative model, therapeutic metacommunication, and the ethical application of the therapist’s use of self, countertransference and judicious transparency.

Dr. Leszcz is a world-renowned expert in group psychotherapy, and an extraordinary leader in Canadian psychiatry. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Group psychotherapy Association among other prestigious recognitions. Amongst his many publications, Dr. Molyn Leszcz co-authored with Dr. Irvin Yalom the revised and updated 5th edition of The Theory and Practice of Group Psychotherapy (Basic Books), the incomparable guide to group therapy.
