NCGPS has been providing education, training, support and collegiality for professionals involved in the group psychotherapies for over forty years. The support of our members allows us to continue to offer cutting edge training in group therapy, and to provide a variety of services to both the professional and non-professional community.. We welcome as members group therapists at all levels of experience – from students and trainees to master therapists.
Benefits of paid membership include opportunities for increasing your exposure, expanding your referral base, and growing your network of group colleagues. Only paid members are eligible to be listed in the Directory of Group Psychotherapy in Northern California –- one of the best ways to publicize the groups that you offer. Members also receive early notification of and discounts on our various educational and networking opportunities.
- Annual Training Conference at Asilomar, June 1-3, 2007: a two and one half day residential training program for group therapists at all levels – 11 hours of CEUs .
- Peer Consultation Groups – provide support while expanding clinical knowledge. Current groups in East Bay, San Francisco, Sacramento, and Marin.
- Training Resource Library –Members can borrow audio and videotapes of our past group therapy training events
- Newsletter – provides articles of interest to group psychotherapists, information about local and national therapy group events, and a paid advertising section.
- Social & Training Events - Annual Dinner in January, Fall Event,; Annual Retreat in August; Core course to become Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP) .
- Monthly Council Meetings- third Tuesday of the month at the Oakland Office of Rose Phelps. These meetings are open to all members and offer an opportunity to become involved in the NCGPS work force.
- Directory of Group Psychotherapy in Northern California - eligibility to be listed in both the on-line and print versions of the Directory which publicizes your current group offerings to the greater community.
- Information and Referral Service (I & R) - provides information to the community and referral to our members listed in the directory.
- Presenter Privileges – As a member you are eligible to apply to present at our Annual Training Conference.
Membership dues for NCGPS are $85 per year. We offer discounted memberships of $65 for current AGPA members, and $45 for students, who must be pre-licensed and either full-time students or in full-time training programs. Please note: only those who are current, voting members of AGPA are eligible to vote in NCGPS elections. Our membership year runs from January 1 through December 31.
